In the two separate interviews which follow Charlie Rose broaches the subject of president-elect Barack Obama.
First in this October 30, 2008 interview just five day away from the election he and Tom Brokaw admit that they or no one for that matter knows anything about Sen. Barack Obama. (see video 4:08mins)
Barack Obama, we know him because of he’s been the public view for a long time he is principally known through his autobiography and through very aspirational speeches… exactly two of them, two books. What do you make of him?—Charlie Rose
And then, Editor of Newsweek Jon Meacham and Newsweek Editor-at-large Evan Thomas discuss with Charlie Rose November 5, 2008 Saul Alinsky who was a mentor to Barack Obama.
Sen. Obama employed methodology from Alinsky’s book “Rules for Racials” in his campaign with which Sen. Obama duped the American people into electing him without Americans knowing anything about him.
One such idea was to focus on the middle class which Sen. Obama did. Really now, didn't anyone think that the middle class just might have wanted to know that they were been used by Sen. Obama just to get elected?
Alinsky dedicated his book in this manner: “Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer
Yes that’s right a dedication to the devil. How special!
He is very elusive, Obama. Which is fascinating for a man who has written two memoirs he is the chief custodial of the story of Obama, he is a stand alone brand.
I was very struck watching the stage craft and this comes out again and again in the project in Grand Park he walks out with the family and then they go away. Biden’s back you know locked in the bar or something you know they don't let him out.
And have you ever seen a victory speech where there no one else on stage, no adoring wife no cute kid he is the messenger. —Jon Meacham
There is a slightly creepy cult personality about all of this, I mean he such an admirable… it just make me little uneasy that he is so singular.
He’s clearly managing his own spectacle, he knows how to do it he’s I think a deeply manipulative guy, now this could be a useful thing in a leader—Evan Thomas (this is a must see video 20:19mins)
It is pathetic to think that a small army of reporters were sent to Alaska to investigate Gov. Palin before the election and we know all that we need to know about Joe the Plumber before the election, however in contrast, before the election the media did not investigate Sen. Barack Obama at all. And now they want to discuss him?
These discussions are too little to late and I’m sure the American people would have appreciated this kind of information before they elected some slightly creepy cult personality to be president of the United States of America.
Thanks for nothing Mr. Brokaw, Mr. Meacham and Mr. Thomas the whole lot of ya, and the so-called Mainstream Media!
