George, the fact that you looked up Merriam's Dictionary, the definition of tax increase, indicates to me that you're stretching a little bit right now. Otherwise, you wouldn't have gone to the dictionary to check on the definition. —President Barry SoetoroUndoubtedly the funniest interview segment that Barry Soetoro has done to date, the George Stephanopholus interview on Sunday 20, 2009, entitled the “Health Care Blitz on every channel except Fox,” had to be hands down funniest. In it President Barry Soetoro attempted to replace Merriam’s Dictionary with his own Orwellian Worldview and definition of what a tax is. I gleefully yelled at the television screen; No, you lie, you lie, you lie as the president straight faced called George Stephanopholus and Merriam’s Dictionary a lie. (see transcript)
According to the president anyone who uses a reputable source of meaning, one that has been in use for centuries on end, that person is stretching the truth. Sooo does that make the president the only authority for meaning now, the divine LOGOS? Watch out next there’ll be a “Meaning of Words” Czar.
In this one interview President Soetoro showed God and everyone watching, why no one can win an argument with a Liberal Democrat. Democrats make up language and definitions like thick rope bridges stretched out over wide canyons of misinformation only to burn the bridges behind them as they run across so that no one else can get any footing (understanding) or join them across on the other side of a conversation for a reasonable and logical conclusion to a debate. (see 2:37mins video)
Simply Amazing!
So should one bring their own rope or ladder (a dictionary) a Liberal Democrat will either cut it in two or kick it off the side of the cliff before everyone can arrive at a truthful conclusion to an argument. Exactly the method president Soetoro demonstrated by cutting Stephanopholus off on last Sunday.
Here are snippets of the exchange where President Soetoro does his level best, “That depends on what is, is” impression of Bill Clinton!
STEPHANOPOULOS: ...during the campaign. Under this mandate, the government is forcing people to spend money, fining you if you don't
How is that not a tax?
OBAMA: Well, hold on a second, George. Here -- here's what's happening. You and I are both paying $900, on average -- our families -- in higher premiums because of uncompensated care. Now what I've said is that if you can't afford health insurance, you certainly shouldn't be punished for that. That's just piling on.
If, on the other hand, we're giving tax credits, we've set up an exchange, you are now part of a big pool, we've driven down the costs, we've done everything we can and you actually can afford health insurance, but you've just decided, you know what, I want to take my chances. And then you get hit by a bus and you and I have to pay for the emergency room care, that's…
STEPHANOPOULOS: That may be, but it's still a tax increase.
OBAMA: No. That's not true, George. The -- for us to say that you've got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase. What it's saying is, is that we're not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you anymore than the fact that right now everybody in America , just about, has to get auto insurance. Nobody considers that a tax increase.
OBAMA: No, but -- but, George, you -- you can't just make up that language and decide that that's called a tax increase. Any...
STEPHANOPOULOS: Here's the...
OBAMA: What -- what -- if I -- if I say that right now your premiums are going to be going up by 5 or 8 or 10 percent next year and you say well, that's not a tax increase; but, on the other hand, if I say that I don't want to have to pay for you not carrying coverage even after I give you tax credits that make it affordable, then...
STEPHANOPOULOS: I -- I don't think I'm making it up. Merriam Webster's Dictionary: Tax -- "a charge, usually of money, imposed by authority on persons or property for public purposes."
OBAMA: George, the fact that you looked up Merriam's Dictionary, the definition of tax increase, indicates to me that you're stretching a little bit right now. Otherwise, you wouldn't have gone to the dictionary to check on the definition. I mean what...
Lost in all of that Barry Soetoro bull? Here’s a general translation of what he said.
Translation: Obama: How is that not a tax? Well, hold on a second, George. Your perception of reality is serious skewed. Almost like a Republican!
Here’s what I want you to believe, people like you and I pay on average of $900 dollars [annually] on higher Health Care premiums because of stiffs who are uninsured. Now what I've said is if someone is a poor stiff then we should all be responsible for paying for poor stiffs.
On the other hand, the way we intend to hide that cost from the tax payer is to bamboozle them with phony tax credits, we've set up an exchange scam, and you are now part of a big pool to make it so confusing no one will understand that government is taking their money.
But if someone who is not a poor stiff exercises their God given freedoms to decide and doesn’t want government to take their money, then that person is hit but a bus you and I have to pay for their healthcare expense just like they were a poor stiff.
But, we’re going to prevent that freedom of choice by making people pay for themselves. That may sound like a tax to you but it isn’t. It’s just allowing people to be responsible for themselves. You know like making people carry their own burdens. It’s like auto insurance everybody is forced by the government to have auto insurance and nobody realizes that, that is a tax!
And George for us to say that every American has got to take responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase. What it's saying is, is that we're not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you anymore than the fact that right now everybody in America , just about, has to get auto insurance. Nobody considers that a tax increase.
Huh? Well Mr. President the Associated Press did a fact check of your statement against the language of the Democratic bills in both the House bill and the Senate Finance Committee proposal and they say for you to mandate that Americans carry Health insurance and for you to fine Americans if they don’t do it, that is a tax. (see story)
Memo to President Barack Obama: It's a tax. Obama insisted this weekend on national television that requiring people to carry health insurance — and fining them if they don't — isn't the same thing as a tax increase. But the language of Democratic bills to revamp the nation's health care system doesn't quibble. Both the House bill and the Senate Finance Committee proposal clearly state that the fines would be a tax.
And the reason the fines are in the legislation is to enforce the coverage requirement.
"If you put something in the Internal Revenue Code, and you tell the IRS to collect it, I think that's a tax," said Clint Stretch, head of the tax policy group for Deloitte, a major accounting firm. "If you don't pay, the person who's going to come and get it is going to be from the IRS."-- Ricardo Alonso-zaldivar, AP News
It all sounds like Obama hopnosis to me! And by the way hopnosis by definition is Barry Soetoro’s attempts to redefine reality on his word alone. Redefinitions above the facts and completely separate from any traditional meaning such as those found in a dictionary!
Thanks for leading the brigade against DRIVING DOWN health costs.
ReplyDeleteGet a clue.
Get a Clue? You think the Democrat legislation being proposed will drive down health care cost?
ReplyDeleteAnon I feel sorry for you. You are under the spell of Barry Soetoro Hopenosis too!
1017pages of increased and expanded government control will not lower health care cost as Democrats are proposing.
Let talk about Congressman John Boehner's proposals:
Rooting "out waste, fraud, and abuse in the system" and reforming "medical liability rules that cost families millions each year – millions that line the pockets of trial lawyers at the expense of patients and doctors."
Letting "small businesses band together through associations and purchase health insurance for workers at a lower cost, just like large corporations and unions do."
Offering "incentives to help Americans who do not have access to quality health care get the coverage they can afford, while giving states tools to design programs that make health care coverage more affordable."
Reforming "regulations so insurance companies compete for your business and you can shop around for the best coverage and price."
Doing these things without all of the government intrusion that the Democrats are proposing will lower HC cost!
All of Boehner's points will be in the Obama bill.
ReplyDeleteBut without a public health-care insurance option, there will be no competition in many states and costs will not go down.
What is your position on the public health care plan?
See I'm afraid to discuss anything of Obama's because he attempted to force though in July this whole health reform deal when nothing was firmed up. Now you say Boehner's points WILLbe in the Obama bill. (***head spinning***)
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you could possibly know what's in Obama's bill since it hasn't be written yet.
And the public health-care insurance option will not, I repete will not lower prices. As point out by several sources.
This whole Democrat process has been misinformation and classic Democrat loading up a bill with things that are irrelevent to the issue at hand. In this case the government doesn't need access to person banking accounts to improve health care but that was in the bill!
It's a matter of trust! After all that we've seen with Democrats and bailouts, pork filled stimulus and the like no matter what the argument Democrats have proven themselves
untrustworthy.
Even in your arguments you've proven untrustworty!
We've read the 1017page bill and we've heard the Barry Soetoro spin and nothing is matching up.
Bottomline Dems can't be trusted.
Don't you mean Dems AND their

"I don't know how you could possibly know what's in Obama's bill since it hasn't be written yet."
ReplyDeleteAll of Boehner's points were in Obama's address to Congress.
After what you've seen with bailouts?
You do realize that the Dow is going to break 10,000 very soon? You do know that the Government is turning a profit on repaid money from the banks?
The stimulus has saved thousands of teaching jobs. That's pork?
How do you feel about the public option?
Anon,
ReplyDeleteDon’t be ridiculous Obama has nothing written therefore he’s been lying since July that he has a health Care plan. If Boehner’s points were in Barry’s speech the president probably plagiarized them from Boehner’s website.
It was Barry who said that the stock market is not an indication of whether or not we are in a recovery. Not to mention that middle class America lives on main street not Wall Street. And didn’t Barry reprimand Wall Street last week for being up to their old tricks?
Yes he did. Tsk, tsk Anon where are the jobs that Barry promised? Now that would be a indication of recovery.
Teaching jobs are you serious? Can you say NEA payback? Barry funds a few Union jobs with tax payer money and you go all gah-gah.
Finally, I read a wall street journal article last July that made these points regarding the public option with which I agree:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124709618142215031.html
• The real goal of the public option is to create a program backstopped by taxpayers that can exert political leverage over the market.
• It’ll cost a trillion dollars
• The public option is an opening wedge for the government to dominate U.S. health care
• When the argument that a government health plan is needed to keep the private sector "honest," is used it is totally illogical. Why? To follow that reasoning to it’s logical conclusion then why don't we also need a state-run oil company, or nationalized grocery store chain?
• In its strongest version, the federal plan would receive direct cash subsidies, allowing it to undercut private insurers on consumer prices. This would quickly lead to "crowd out," the tendency of supposedly "free" public programs to displace private insurance.
• Congress will have to spend $2 of taxpayer money to provide $1 in new benefits.
• More precise academic studies of expansions in Medicaid and the children's insurance program put the crowd-out effect somewhere between 25% and 60%.
• Democrats are planning to mandate the benefits that private insurers must provide, the patients they must accept, and how much they can charge. Oh, and a government plan would still have an implicit taxpayer guarantee a la Fannie Mae, giving it an inherent cost-of-capital advantage.
Why do I get a really bad feeling that everything
ReplyDeletethat Barry and the Socialist Democrat party comes
up with, is all about government control?
"Don’t be ridiculous Obama has nothing written therefore he’s been lying since July that he has a health Care plan. If Boehner’s points were in Barry’s speech the president probably plagiarized them from Boehner’s website."
ReplyDeleteThe points have been on the White House site for months. The Democratic party has been working on health reform since Harry Truman.
No, Obama has not relied on John Boehner for points. Now that is laughable.
A few jobs? Thousands of teaching jobs have been saved. You would prefer that these people were out of work?
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/08/education/08school.html?hp
Glenn Beck is right. Thank your lucky stars that John McCain and Sarah Palin are not in the White House right now. If that were the case, this country would be in a Great Depression, my friend.
Lets see what happens in a couple of

out. So far we have 25,000 new
government jobs created and taxpayers
still losing theirs.
We the taxpayers are the meal tickets

starve and there goes the whole economy.
