Maher calls America Stupid!

Maher with something he knows a lot about

Bill Maher is stupid. Not because I say it but because he said it. That’s right! Maher in the stupidest article that I’ve ever read actually wrote down for everyone to see just how stupid he is.

Case in point; Maher retells an interview he had on CNN with Wolf Blitzer were he was asked if he thought Sarah Palin could get elected president. Maher’s response was, “ I hope not, but I wouldn’t put anything past this stupid country.” (see article)

Now I don’t know this for a fact but Maher does live in this country doesn’t he? Therefore he is a fellow countryman isn’t he? So wouldn’t that by extension make him stupid by his own judgment?

The beauty of it all this that after Maher said it and caught flack from the television audience that he said it before, he then sat down to composed an article about how stupid America is. That after he thought long and hard on the subject never once realizing that if he is an American his condemnation of America’s stupidity would naturally included himself! Hilarious!

Oh, you think that he thinks his critique of America doesn’t include him?

So what did he do, jump up and while he was off the ground for mere seconds declare himself not an earthling? Is he somehow exempt because Liberal Ideology is based in contradictory thoughts and statements that cancel out any sense of reality? Or is he exempt because he owns a summer home in Somalia?

I don’t know what he’s thinking, but calling the country that you live in stupid is a lot like calling your own mother a bitch. That Mr. Maher would by definition make you the son of a bitch. (as an example)

I never laughed so hard in my life! Maher went on and on attempting to show just how much of a bitch his mother was, so to speak, as he gave example after example of just how stupid America is.

All the while I’m thinking when will this fellow realize that he’s talking about himself.
And before I go about demonstrating how, sadly, easy it is to prove the dumbness dragging down our country, let me just say that ignorance has life and death consequences.—Bill Maher
I'm the bad guy for saying it's a stupid country, yet polls show that a majority of Americans cannot name a single branch of government, or explain what the Bill of Rights is.

24% could not name the country America fought in the Revolutionary War. More than two-thirds of Americans don't know what's in Roe v. Wade. Two-thirds don't know what the Food and Drug Administration does.

Some of this stuff you should be able to pick up simply by being alive. You know, like the way the Slumdog kid knew about cricket.
—Bill Maher
No Mr. Maher, calling your country stupid doesn’t make you a bad guy neither does it make you an elitist. What it does make you is the ultimate example of just how stupid America is! Or is that concept still over your head?

Geez, I can’t stop laughing! (That’s at you Bill not with you!)

Vestri non ut luminosus ut vos reputo Bill!

So, you argue that maher is stupid and take the time to actually come up with lame little jokes (not to you of course) and in the end you actually agree with him.

You also didn't bother to respond directly to any of maher's points, probably because you didn't even understand them.

So, just to be crystal clear, maher didn't say everyone in america is stupid, or even most americans just that the millions of americans who don't get evolution or or understand what a scientific theory is are weighing heavy on the intelligence curve of this country. I know, I know its over your head. But, thanks for providing some evidence of maher's point of view. Can't get much stupider than that.

  3. Anon,
You so funny! This is what Maher said, "I wouldn’t put anything past this stupid country." So where did he make the distinctions about evolution or scientific theory that you've conjured up?

Might I remind you that Mahers was speaking about you, if you are an American. And he was speaking about me.

My point is that he's included in that too!

Or is that too over your head?

Trust me, when a large portion of this country does not believe in evolutionary theory then it's those people that Maher is talking about, whether he mentioned that one specific example or not makes no difference, somehow I think he'd agree.

He did mention (which you quoted) is that 24% of Americans do not know who we fought to gain our indepencence. That is stupid and he obviously is not including himself in that statement.

He also talks about a poll where a majority of Americans cannot name one branch of the federal government (you should be familar with this...again, you quoted it). Those people sound kind of stupid, at least very, very uninformed, agree? Again, he's not including me, you? I have no idea but you obviously have a reading comprehension problem so who knows.

He also specifically said this (again, you quoted him but ignored it)

"And before I go about demonstrating how, sadly, easy it is to prove the dumbness dragging down our country, let me just say that ignorance has life and death consequences."

His point is obviously that America is stupid because it has too many stupid people in it. He did not say that ALL Americans are stupid. This is where your "son of a bitch" analogy falls completely flat, it's apples and oranges but I guess you thought it was cute. To me, it's just an example of Maher's point, some Americans are stupid and they are dragging the rest of us down. I know, once again you won't get this as I can see what side of the bell curve you likely live on. Or, you can actually reread Maher's comments, TRY to understand what he meant and that he obviously was not including himself and not all Americans, just the knuckle draggers, like ya' know....FreeRepublic which is where I go to laugh, cry and comment on stupidity in our day.

  5. Anon, are you Bill Maher's spokes person? I didn't think that you were. And you definitely can't read minds now can you?

    So when you say:

Trust me, when a large portion of this country does not believe in evolutionary theory then it's those people that Maher is talking about, whether he mentioned that one specific example or not makes no difference, somehow I think he'd agree.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. Especially when Maher didn’t raise the evolution matter, you did!

It’s quite clear what Maher said and no one needs you to interpret him. That's what wrong with you, “know-it-alls” you read in your own interpretations on a matter as if it were gossip truth.

    This is what Maher said:

I'm the bad guy for saying it's a stupid country, yet polls show that a majority of Americans cannot name a single branch of government, or explain what the Bill of Rights is.

24% could not name the country America fought in the Revolutionary War. More than two-thirds of Americans don't know what's in Roe v. Wade. Two-thirds don't know what the Food and Drug Administration does.

Some of this stuff you should be able to pick up simply by being alive. You know, like the way the Slumdog kid knew about cricket

Maher said that the country is stupid, basis on statistics from an unnamed poll that covered general subject matter which, no doubt, should have been taught to everyone that went through the public education system that Liberals like yourself control in this country.(but that's another story)

But there you go interpreting what the man means.

He said the country is stupid and he gives examples to support his outlandish statement.

He gave no indication that he was meaning only the groups you said he meant. He merely uses them as examples. Anything else comes from your active but wrong imagination.

Must I remind you that it takes a majority of Americans to vote in a President and that was the overall question that he was speaking to.

So it is obvious to everyone but you that Maher was speaking about Americans in general not the segments of the population that you imagine.

So again you have proven yourself to be among the Americans that Maher was referring to.

Therefore Anon, Vestri non ut luminosus ut vos reputo!

Anon, are you Bill Maher's spokes person? I didn't think that you were. And you definitely can't read minds now can you?

What does this have to do with anything? I don't need to read minds when I can just read and have an understanding of the subject matter which would be Bill Maher. I agree with some things he says and disagree with others but I at least have an understanding of his point of view.

    So when you say:

Trust me, when a large portion of this country does not believe in evolutionary theory then it's those people that Maher is talking about, whether he mentioned that one specific example or not makes no difference, somehow I think he'd agree.

No, I know perfectly well what I'm saying. I've heard Maher go on and on and on about what he thinks about creationists, he thinks they are stupid. Just Google "Bill Maher" & creationists and you will get a clear picture. It's really a minor point, we could stick with the 3 branches of government question if you want. But, what you are doing is avoiding the topic. That topic being your article on what you do not understand about the subject of your blog.

It’s quite clear what Maher said and no one needs you to interpret him. That's what wrong with you, “know-it-alls” you read in your own interpretations on a matter as if it were gossip truth.

See? This is completely irrelevant. I obviously have a firmer grasp of Maher's thoughts because I didn't create an entire blog about the title of an article that Bill Maher wrote (and used in his New Rules segment). I actually bothered to read it, to understand that when he never said that all Americans are stupid just that stupid Americans are dragging us down. You quoted him saying just that. Now, you are completely ignoring it. You are also completely ignoring that in the article he is more than happy to take the title of "elitist" and takes it as a compliment. He's saying he's better than the stupid people. Clearly, not including himself and judging by the statistics he is using he doesn't make the claim that all Americans are stupid because they don't point that out. He is saying that many Americans are stupid. The fact that we have a basic reading comprehension problem on your part and that you are actually bothering to debate this speaks volumes. Ok, let's go on....

Could be public education, private or homeschooled. I had a decent public education and I certainly can name all 3 branches of government, I think I'd ace the statistics that Bill uses. Anyway, I'm not sure what this has to do with public education other than you seem to be scratching at other topics because you don't have a point. Stay on topic, it'd show that you actually believe you are correct.

But there you go interpreting what the man means.

Of course I'm interpreting what he means, just as you are. Sheesh. The difference is I judge all of his words collectively. You're the one who can't get past the title of "Smart president does not mean smart country." Actually right there he claims Obama is smart so obviously it's not all Americans. His entire article is littered with this opinion. I'm guessing that all you read was "Bill Maher said stupid and America in the same sentence, I'm going to blog at my invisible little place on the net about it." That's all she wrote after that, you didn't bother to really look at what he meant.

He said the country is stupid and he gives examples to support his outlandish statement.

The country is stupid, that doesn't mean everyone in the country is stupid. As I said before (and you quoted) Maher even made the point that it's people who don't have basic knowledge of certain things that are dragging the REST OF US DOWN. Clearly, that is a sign that his not labeling all Americans as morons. Maybe he just means the republican/conservative deadenders, maybe he just means those who need a civics class, maybe he means people like you and maybe it's somebody else. I have no idea but reading it I can only come to one conclusion. You are wrong.

He gave no indication that he was meaning only the groups you said he meant. He merely uses them as examples. Anything else comes from your active but wrong imagination.

What groups did I say he meant? Creationists? Ok, he didn't specifically say Creationists however I do know he thinks they are not very smart judging from his other material. FreeRepublic? Actually that's who I think are stupid, I don't know what Maher thinks of them but I'd have to guess not much.

Must I remind you that it takes a majority of Americans to vote in a President and that was the overall question that he was speaking to.

Yep, so? Obama was elected do you think Maher was saying that America's IQ went up?

So it is obvious to everyone but you that Maher was speaking about Americans in general not the segments of the population that you imagine.

Like I said, I didn't mention a segment of the population. I just mentioned FreeRepublic but only because that's what I personally consider stupid. Why, you a member?

So again you have proven yourself to be among the Americans that Maher was referring to.

No, you are continuing with your reading comprehension dementia.

  9. No matter how you tilt a windmills Anon the facts remain the same Mahers said America is stupid, he meant what he said. You've interpreted a complete fanstasy.

You're a legend in your own mind!

And you're one of the Americans which Maher referred to!

I just love the ones who say "You didn't bother to really look at what he meant"

I bet you're a great Obama interpreter too! Hahahahahahahahahaa

Keep laughing. I can't help it if all you got from his article was "I'm Bill Maher and I think every single American is stupid." Oh, and to include himself.

Anyway, your lack of a response speaks volumes.

Also, does this sound like Maher is saying he is stupid?

"And if you want to call me an elitist for this, I say thank you. Yes, I want decisions made by an elite group of people who know what they're talking about. That means Obama budget director Peter Orszag, not Sarah Palin. "

I don't know, seems to me he's saying he's better than the stupid people. But, you put this blog up, I suppose you have no choice but to defend something that you wrote when you didn't even understand it.

Not Sarah Palin? Gee, I wonder what people Maher is calling stupid.....

Now (and this is once again my opinion) stupid people don't get nuance, they can't bother with anything more than a sound bite and they refuse to acknowledge the context of what they are talking about. We have too much of that in this country, it's not me, it's not Bill Maher, it's the stupid people in this country.

Oh, and your crappy little freebie blog didn't post 2 other comments.

Anyway, I just found out you're a birther.

Now, this is just my opinion but I suspect Bill Maher probably thinks you are one of the stupid Americans.

    Bye.

So, is this how it works with FreeRepublic? You post your own blog entries hoping to generate traffic?

Anyway, a couple of questions. How come on FreeRepublic you have people posting that they agree with Maher? Ya' know, I guess because we elected a black president or something?

Actually here are some comments form your post (of your own blog, submitted by you):

I think I agree with Maher for a change. Look at what Americans did on November 4, 2008. Dumbest thing I ever saw.

Agree with that ... amazing how stupid people were ... and even without the help of the MSM, the information was not that difficult to find.

Maybe 2/3 to 3/4 America is stupid. The Democrats are stupid. The independents who swing vote liberal are stupid. Those who don’t understand, don’t care, and don’t vote are stupid.

So... I guess Bill is fairly correct.

    Maher calls America Stupid!

He's right: America made him rich, so how smart can it be?
